Abstract

This piece presents an overview on some considerations regarding the body concepts and connotations through History thus reflecting on the postmodern concepts of body, and human being.

Negative body connotations are examined first, and then the positive ones; such as the connection between the body and physiology functions with life and renovation principles. The postmodern body concept is presented afterwards, where body rejection and body enhancement are upsettingly common, thanks to technoscience.

Finally, it seems that today’s digital era is giving birth to the new man metaphor which rises as a result of body abjection: “man is pure information”.
